內容說明:
大量舉例：介紹字首與字根時，以實際、生活化的例子，幫助學生瞭解字首與字根如何實地應用於專業字彙上。
如介紹與數字相關之字首「octo-」時，以octopus （八爪魚、章魚）為例；以及介紹與發炎相關之字根「-itis」時，舉appendicitis（闌尾炎）為例，協助學生理解。
大量配合圖解：在舉出實際、生活化的例子時，盡可能地配合圖解，協助學生瞭解。
配合多種課程活動：為協助學生更快記憶字首與字根，教師會以歌曲、遊戲、詩句等方式，提升學生記憶字首與字根；除此之外，課後測驗亦以循序漸進（選擇、填字遊戲、問答、文章閱讀、詩/歌編寫）的方式，除提升學生記憶之外，亦逐步協助學生練習字首與字根的應用。
課程目標
醫學、生物相關類科的學生在進入大學時，均會面臨中英文轉換的問題；而最大的困難在於詰曲聱牙的專業英文字彙。
由於專業英文字彙大部分源自於拉丁文、希臘文，對於過去未曾接觸的大一新生來說，因無法瞭解其意義而無法記憶，更遑論由這些語言所拼湊而成的專業英文字彙了。
其實並不需要為了學習專業英文而學習拉丁文、希臘文。
僅需熟習相關的字首（prefix）與字尾（suffix），並經由舉例與反覆練習瞭解如何使用後，日後即使遇到未曾學習過的專業字彙，也能經由拆解字的結構，從而推斷出可能的含意。
當學生可以不需查字典，便可瞭解專業字彙的含意時，閱讀專業原文書籍的速度便可望大幅提昇。
